Exciting news – yesterday morning, Common Start advocates filled the State House steps in support of the EARLY ED Act, and then filled the Senate Chamber as the Senate voted to PASS the bill unanimously!
Senators, community members, and advocates gathered for the Senate press conference alongside Senate President Spilka, our Senate lead sponsors Senator Lewis, Senator Moran, and other Senators all in support of the EARLY ED Act.
And even more exciting – right after the press conference, the Senate gathered in the Senate Chamber and voted to pass the EARLY ED Act (S.2697) unanimously! With this vote, we are one step closer to advancing the full Common Start Vision and achieving high-quality, affordable, and accessible early education and care for families in Massachusetts!
We are incredibly grateful to Senate President Spilka and our Common Start lead sponsors Senator Lewis and Moran for their leadership, and the Senate for their support of the EARLY ED Act.
And we are especially grateful to Common Start advocates, whose advocacy and hard work led us to this incredible milestone. While the work continues to ensure the bill passes in the House and lands on Governor Healey’s desk, we want to celebrate this milestone!
